Category: Peak to Peak Community IndicatorsQuality of Life Indicators Project
A new project to begin in 2001 to provide a process whereby the
community develops a set of quality of life indicators to help
citizens, businesses, non-profits and elected officials to determine
positive trends (e.g., the indicators are going up or down), trends
that need attention, and to illuminate interconnections among
community issues. This project is regional in focus and will include
Gilpin County and the Nederland area.
The focus of this project is to collect, analyze and publish
information indicators to help local government and
community members prepare for the number one issue we will
face in the next 20 years, growth. With population growth
forecasts of over 800,000 in the Front Range alone, a
significant number of these people will look to make their
homes in the peak to peak area. Clearly, the effects of
growth on the quality of life in the peak to peak region
will increase in the coming years.
The goal is to publish the data we have collected in the fall of
2002.

Other Resources
- Community Survey Report - This is a brief updated report outlining the top three
indicator choices for each issue area of the Peak to Peak
Regional Quality of Life Community Indicators Study. These
indicators will be the foundation of the baseline
Indicators Study for the Peak to Peak Region. Research is
currently underway for these indicators, and the community
report and presentations should be ready sometime in June
2002.
- Indicators Study Community Survey - This is the Peak to Peak Regional Quality of Life
Indicators Study Community Survey. All Peak to Peak
regional community members are asked to fill out this
survey and return it to PPHCP by April 1, 2002. This
community input is vital to narrowing down the indicators
that will be used in the baseline indicators study this
year.
- Nov 5-7 Community Forums Summary - A summary of community forums held in early November, 2001,
which helped define the issue areas for the Indicators
Study.
- Quality Of Life Indicators Webpage - This website is an excellent resource for learning more about
indicators.
- Sustainable Measures - This is an excellent website about indicators.
