Category: Greater Nederland Area Vision Statements Open Space Acquisition and Management Plan PPHCP obtained a $15,000 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to develop an open space acquisition and management plan. This will enable the town to immediately begin to purchase land for open space as well as implement sound management practices for the parcels. The goals of the project include: 1. inventory and mapping of specific Forest Service parcels inside and immediately adjacent to the town for possible open space conservation; 2. assessment of existing uses and conditions and an evaluation to determine prioritization; 3. creation of a management plan that includes general management guidelines as well as cost estimates associated with effective open space management; 4. development of an acquisition plan that includes specific action plans for immediately acquiring selected parcels. The Nederland Open Space, Trails, Parks and Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee will be overseeing the development of the plan. ERO Resources Corp. has been hired to help develop the plans.
