Category: Project ManagementNederland Ice Rink and Tennis Courts
PPHCP is providing facilitation and project management for the Town
of Nederland's ice rink and tennis court project.
In 2000, the Peak to Peak Healthy Community Project conducted a
Nederland community survey that included parks and recreation
questions. The most popular and requested "additional recreation
opportunity" was a local ice rink, receiving nearly 40% of all
requests. The Town of Nederland later adopted the Open Space,
Trails, Parks and Outdoor Recreation Plan, where a primary goal was
the development of an outdoor skating rink.
In 2004, the Town of Nederland received a $200,000 grant from
Great
Outdoors Colorado to build an ice rink and tennis court facility
near the Nederland Elementary school. This grant, along with
significant community funding support, will make an local ice rink
and tennis courts a reality for Nederland.
PPHCP will act as project management on this project,
coordinating
community input, development, and operations with the many community
stakeholders.
