Meeting Minutes
Nederland Area Trails, Open Space, Parks, and Outdoor Recreation Master Plan
Steering Committee
Summary of Meeting: April 16, 8 - 10 AM, Nederland Community Center
Present: Bill Martin, Nederland Planning Commission; Jill Dreves, Wild Bear
Center for Nature Discovery; Sheila Ranegar, Trail Mix; Jim Cowart, PUMA;
Larry Tasaday, Eldora Civic Association; James Churches; Garry Sanfacon, PPHCP;
Gene Dilworth, PPHCP.
The committee focused its discussion on the Open Space Goals and Policies
section of the Draft Plan.
The most substantial change recommended is that the policy that the town form
and support an open space advisory body (currently under Goal #3) should be more
prominently placed, more strongly worded, and that it apply to implementation of
all aspects of the Plan. The overall goal was reworded to emphasize building
the town's capacity.
Other minor changes will be reflected in next version of the draft Plan.
The committee agreed that there should be an additional implementation summary
which prioritizes major action items. The preferred format was not yet decided.
The public release of the draft Plan and the public meeting were postponed to
allow the committee more time to adequately review and revise the draft. The
proposed revised time-line is as follows:
April 25: Steering Committee meeting, 8 AM, NCC Rm. 120
April 20: Steering Committee meeting, 8 AM, NCC Rm. 120
May 1: All revisions on electronic copy to Andy
May 9: Draft Master Plan ready for public release
May 15 or 17: TBA, Public presentation and meeting, evening **
(**Note: At the SC meeting we set the public meeting date for May 23. Andy is
out of town that week, so we are considering the earlier dates. A firm date
will be set ASAP.)
NEXT STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING:
Wednesday, April 25, 8 - 10:30 AM
Nederland Community Center, Room 120
Planned agenda:
1. Review and discuss final revisions for draft plan.
